PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reagent for free residual chlorine measurement having excellent time-dependent stability with one agent. SOLUTION: There is constituted the reagent for free residual chlorine measurement characterized by being a solid mixture containing: a phosphoric acid-based buffering agent containing 0.8-1.5 wt.% of diethyl-p-phenylenediamine sulfate and 0.1-0.5 wt.% of chelator, and formed to become a buffer solution where the pH of the solution is set in the range of 6.0-7.0 when dissolved in a predetermined quantity of water; and an excipient.
