PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device accurately sensing swing of elongated articles such as a main rope upon an earthquake or a strong wind and conducting emergency operation. SOLUTION: In the elevator device conducting the emergency operation upon an earthquake or a strong wind, the amount of swing of an elongated article in an elevator shaft is calculated at regular time intervals based on a building shaking signal detected by a vibration indicator 5 installed at an upper part of the elevator shaft or an upper part of the building to gradually conduct emergency operation based on the amount of swing of the elongated article.
