PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required for inspection work by performing the inspection by the sound output. SOLUTION: A data processing device 1 such as a handy terminal comprises a storage unit 14 for storing the bar code for identifying commodities by each commodity for inspection, the data of the commodity name, the data of the incoming amount, and the sound data indicating the commodity name and the incoming amount in a corresponding manner, a reading unit 16 for reading the bar code added to an arbitrary commodity out of a plurality of commodities stored in a tray for inspection, and an sound output unit 17 for outputting the sound. A CPU 10 retrieves the data corresponding to the bar code read by the reading unit 16 from the storage unit 14, and performs the sound output of the commodity name and the incoming amount of each commodity stored in the tray based on the data stored in the storage unit 14 when, as a result of retrieval, it is determined that the data corresponding to the bar code read by the reading unit 16 is stored in the storage unit 14.
