PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly transmit torque without friction and shaking and transmit a large torque during failure. SOLUTION: The variable gear ratio steering device is capable of controlling the amount of change of the direction of a tire with respect to the amount of change in the operation amount of an operation element by a driver, and is equipped with a frictional torque transmission part for transmitting torque by frictional force, and an engagement torque transmission part for transmitting torque by mechanical engagement. In a normal state, torque is transmitted by the frictional torque transmission part, and when torque cannot be transmitted by the frictional torque part, it is transmitted by the engagement torque transmission part.
