PURPOSE:To realize a display with any display resolution except a maximum display resolution divided an integer by forming a pixel in the shape of a hook and providing a means which alters intervals between the pixels. CONSTITUTION:The figure indicates a case applied to a color liquid crystal display device of a simple matrix system, and intends to achieve a display resolution of 768 X 256 dots and a display resolution (the horizontal display resolution is two-thirds) of 512 X 256 dots. This device is obtained by arranging plural pixels constituted of elements in red R, green G and blue B in the shape of a matrix. The pixel is formed in the shape of a hook and the means which alters the intervals between the pixels is provided. The pixel constituted of three elements, R, G and B, is formed in the shape of a hook. Thus, a gap equivalent to one electrode is made between two pixels. Thereby a display resolution of two-thirds of the maximum display resolution is realized. |
