A semiconductor memory device is provided to reduce current consumption in write operation by separately arranging global input/output lines for delivering data from respective repeaters to corresponding banks. A semiconductor memory device includes a controller(30) and a repeater(32). The controller generates a control signal using bank address and commands input from outside in write operation. The repeater selects one of plural bank groups in response to the control signal and delivers the data delivered from input/output pads to the selected bank groups. The controller selects one of the plural bank groups according to the state of a bank control signal having bank address information when a data input strobe signal generated by the commands is enabled.
