A capture image reproducing apparatus and a capture image reproducing method are provided to reproduce a compensated capture image having uniform luminance distributions when reproducing a capture image which is a screen image in an image projection system. A capture image reproducing apparatus includes a reproduction control unit(450), a compensator(460), and a display panel(470). The reproduction control unit outputs a gradation value of each pixel calculated from image data in correspondence to coordinates of each pixel. The compensator receives the gradation value of each pixel and information about the coordinates of each pixel to generate a compensated gradation value. The display panel receives the compensated gradation value to display the compensated capture image. The compensator includes a distance calculator, a compensating value provider, and an arithmetic unit. The distance calculator calculates a pixel distance from a center pixel to each pixel based on the information about the coordinates of each pixel. The compensating value provider provides a gradation compensating value corresponding to the pixel distance. The arithmetic unit adds the gradation value and the gradation compensating value to generate the compensated gradation value.
