Loom and method for weaving single cloth uncut velvet

The loom has electric actuators (6) individually controlled and to bring guiding rails (3) of warp threads in one of four positions (N1-N4) defining three sheds (F1-F3) of the threads. An insertion device inserts two rods (31, 32) in the sheds (F2, F3), where the rods are mounted on a support driven parallely at an insertion direction by a jack, when the rods are taken back from the shed, the threads that pass above the rod (32) are cut by a cutting blade to form poils and the threads that pass only above rod (31) form loop that stay in tissue. An independent claim is also included for a method for weaving ribbed velvet.
