PURPOSE:To reduce the quantity of user's operation for windows by inferring the work of the user in accordance with information of plural windows on a picture to determine the layout of windows on the picture and automatically changing the layout of windows. CONSTITUTION:An initializing means 18 takes initialization information as the input from a file or the like to initialize a menu managing means 14 and a layout rule storage means 15 and starts an event analyzing means 17 there after. This means 17 analyzes an event to generate or delete a window in accor dance with contents of the event; and in the case of the event accompanied with the change of window management information, a window layout determin ing means 16 is started after information in a window management information storage means 12 is updated. Window management information and the window layout are changed based on window management information stored in the window management information storage means 12 and the window layout rule stored in the layout rule storage means 15. Thus, the quantity of user's operation for windows is reduced.
