METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC SETTING EQUALIZER

A method and an apparatus for automatically setting an equalizer are provided to automatically set an equalizer mode by extracting information about musical characteristics of a music file to be reproduced. An apparatus for automatically setting an equalizer comprises the steps of: extracting information about musical characteristics of a music file to be reproduced(S31); comparing the extracted information with pre-learned information about musical characteristics(S32); and setting an equalizer of the corresponding musical genre(S33). The information about musical characteristics includes at least one of spectral energy, spectral flux, gravitation center, spectral centroid, spectral rolloff, and bit per minute.
