An overload control system using an L4 switch and a method thereof are provided to reduce the burden of an L4 switch by adding an auxiliary server to back up the load information of each server connected to the L4 switch so that the L4 switch can adjust the load of each server according to the load information stored in the auxiliary server, without the necessity of accessing each server one by one in order to confirm its load state. An overload control system comprises a service server group(100), an L4 switch(200), and an auxiliary server(300). The service server group is a set of servers(110-130) which provide services to users. Each of the servers periodically transmits its own traffic status information. The L4 switch confirms the traffic of each of the servers, and adjusts the traffic of each server according to each server's traffic status. The auxiliary server stores the traffic status information periodically transmitted from the servers of the service server group, and provides the stored traffic status information to the L4 switch.
