PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for a dual fuel engine with improved startability of an engine. SOLUTION: When the engine is started by mixed fuel of light oil and fuel gas with insufficient calorific value as a single fuel, and the calorific value itself fluctuating, the engine is started by light oil only. Then, after a drive load of the engine starts to rise, the engine is controlled to mix fuel gas to light oil. When supply of fuel gas to the engine is stopped upon stopping of the engine, the engine is controlled to drive by only light oil for a predetermined time and then to stop.
