A tape measure a housing having first and second housing portions 2, 22 joined by a seam 110 that is asymmetrically disposed on the assembled housing. The first housing portion 1 comprises a receptacle in which the tape measure components are located and the second housing portion 22 comprises a cover that encloses the receptacle. The housing is weighted such that the center of gravity of the housing is oriented so that the housing will assume a predetermined orientation when dropped from a height. |
