A method and a system for adding an index word automatically in a search database are provided to offer a more correct and wider search result for search requested from other users by adding a search query to a result document as the index word when the user selects the result document displayed for the search query received from the user. A search query input unit(503) receives/stores first and second search queries from a user(500) by providing a search interface. A result document provider(504) provides at least one first search result document indexed by the first search query and at least one second search result document indexed by the second search query from a search database(502) storing the indexed result documents. A selection request receiver(505) receives a request for selecting at least one document among the first and second result documents from the user. A relation determiner determines whether or not relation is found between the first and second search query. An index adder(506) adds the first search query to the selected second result documents as an index to the search database when the relation is found between the first and second search query.
