A copper base sintered slide member characterized by being composed of 0.5 to 20 wt.% tin, 0.1 to 35 wt.% manganese, 2 to 25 wt.% solid lubricant and the balance copper. Further, there is provided a double layer copper base sintered slide member consisting of a copper base alloy sintered layer and, unified therewith, a metal lining, characterized in that the copper base alloy sintered layer is composed of 0.5 to 20 wt.% tin, 0.1 to 35 wt.% manganese, 2 to 25 wt.% solid lubricant and the balance copper. These slide members are lead-free copper base sintered slide members, which exhibit slide performance equal to or superior to that of lead-containing copper base sintered slide members and can be appropriately used as oil-bearing sintered slide members. Moreover, the copper base sintered slide member can be appropriately used even in dry friction conditions or high-temperature region where use of lubricating oil is difficult, and the double layer sintered slide member exhibits excellent slide performance even in high-load conditions. |
