An image display method and an image display device are provided to change brightness weights for respective sub-fields while displaying an image by referring to a brightness level of the sub-fields. An image display device constitutes one frame of an image signal using different sub-fields with different weights. A table memory(111) memorizes plural brightness weight tables with the brightness weight allocated to the respective sub-fields. An image analyzer(112) analyzes the image signal and selects one brightness weight table corresponding to a property of the image signal from the brightness weight tables. A table output portion(113) reads the brightness weight table, which is selected by the image analyzer, and outputs the read brightness weight table. The table output portion outputs one or more than two shift brightness weight tables, such that the brightness weights allocated to the respective sub-fields are gradually shifted from a previously selected brightness weight table to a currently selected brightness weight table. |
