METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF SOFT PARAFFINS

The soft paraffins produced according to the method are used for the impregnation of building materials, in the production of stationery, for attribution of surface glaze ans as antiageing agent of rubber products, as matting pigments in lacquers, for the manufacture of water-resistant papers and cardboards, finished of textiles, and others. They have exellent plasticity, melting temperature from 35 to 45 C, oil content below 4.5% and yield from the raw material from 70 to 80%. According to the method, soft paraffins are produced from low viscous, medium viscous or ressidual slop wax, from spindle, medium viscous or viscous paraffin, from transformer or viscous gatch. The raw materials are heated to 40 - 60 C, then diluted with 30 to 60% sovlent consisting of xylene, monoethylketone and methylated spirit in amounts of 30, 69 and 1%, respectively. Aluminium salt of nitrated oil distillate is added to the produced mixture in amount of 0.007-0.010% in respect of the raw material. The mixture is then cooled at medium speed of 120-150C/hr and filtrated using vacuum filtre at residual pressure of 300-350 mm Hg in two stages: the first at -35 1 C, and the second at -30 1%.
