A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to prevent a swelling phenomenon caused by the reaction between a cathode active material and a non-aqueous electrolyte, and to improve the capacity maintenance. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a cathode(11) using a cathode active material comprising a lithium-containing metal composite oxide having a layered structure; an anode(12); and a non-aqueous electrolyte containing an electrolyte dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent. The cathode active material comprises a lithium-containing metal composite oxide containing at least 50 mol% of metals other than nickel. Additionally, a cyclic ether is added to the non-aqueous electrolyte in an amount of 0.1-2 vol%.
