An apparatus and a method for preventing a loss of a mobile terminal and belongings by using a heat beat pattern are provided to solve a problem that a related art belongings loss preventing apparatus has limitation in reducing a size, and a transmitter and a receiver should be always carried around. A sound absorption unit(105) absorbs ambient noise. An amplifying unit(110) amplifies a detect signal outputted via the sound absorption unit. A particular pattern recognition filter unit(115) cancels the remaining noise except for a heat beat pattern. A particular pattern determining unit(120) checks whether there is a filtered heart beat pattern. An alarm sound generating unit(125) outputs an alarm sound if there is no heart beat pattern. An operation button unit(130) manipulates an operation and a non-operation. A heart beat pattern recognizing unit(135) recognizes a heart beat pattern of a user when an operation of the operation button unit is set. A storage unit(140) stores the recognized heart beat pattern. A central controller(155) performs general controlling. A power supply unit(145) supplies power to each element.
