An aerator (2) which includes two or more spaced legs (6b) and a skid (22) extending between each pair of adjacent legs (6b) is disclosed. The skid (22), supported with the lower surface substantially parallel to the ground, is arranged to prevent the ground between the aerator legs (6b) from being pushed substantially above the ground surface.
