Polyisocyanate-based adhesive formulation for use in sandwich panels

A sandwich panel comprising an insulation layer having on at least one side a glued-on coating layer comprising and adhesive obtained by reacting an aqueous alkali metal silicate solution with an organic polyisocyanate is disclosed. Preferably the alkali metal silicate is sodium silicate having a SiO:Na2O weight ratio from 1.6:1 to 3.3:1; and the polyisocyanate is diphenylmethane diisocyanate or a derivative thereof.
