A computer system for calculating energy cost savings associated with the purchase of an energy efficient product is disclosed. The system includes a processor arranged to retrieve first data associated with a first energy usage prior to use of the product, retrieve second data associated with a predicted second energy usage when using the product, calculate an energy usage difference value between the first energy usage and second energy usage using the retrieved first and second data, and, calculate an energy cost saving value based on the energy usage difference value. The second data includes meteorological data and location data associated with the product.
