The articulation has two crossed rods (12, 13) permitting rotational movement of the articulation, where the rods are connected to two sections (2, 3) of parts of bodywork of a vehicle by pivot axles (12A, 12B, 13A, 13B) that are separated from each other. The rods forms an intersected X in aligned position of the sections along a median plane. The sections are situated side by side to permit an instantaneous centre of rotation of the articulation to be displaced from a position (C1) situated inside the sections towards another position (C3) situated outside the sections.
