A signal processing method and an apparatus thereof are provided to achieve efficient data coding, thereby achieving data compression/decompression with high transmission efficiency. A data grouping part(100) groups data in various modes. A data encoder(200) encodes the data according to a corresponding encoding mode. An entropy encoding part(300) performs variable length coding according to statistical characteristics of data by referring to an entropy table. A bit stream multiplexing part(400) arranges and/or converts data, coded in first or second data encoding parts(210 or 220) or the entropy encoding part, according to transmission standards and transmits the data in a bit stream form through an output terminal(OUT1). Pattern information corresponding to a pattern formed by plural data and pattern residual information generated in correspondence with the pattern information are obtained. The data is obtained by using the pattern information and the pattern residual information. |
