Method of manufacturing a cross-linked layer for a power and/or telecommunications cable

The method involves extruding mixture including dicumyl peroxide, cross-linked polymer e.g. polyorgano siloxane and polyolefin and calcium oxide. The extruded mixture is cross linked under the action of heat by immersing in salt bath, fluid bed, and liquid bath for forming a cross-linked layer. The polyolefin is polymer and ethylene copolymer.
