An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve viewing angle characteristics, especially reduce the color shift and the light leakage in a black display mode. An LCD comprises a liquid crystal cell divided into plural domains, and a transparent film. The transparent film is composed of two or more domains having different in-plane retardations and/or different thickness-direction retardations, with respect to visible light wavelength, lambda nm. The domains of the transparent film and the domains of the liquid crystal cell have no correlation in arrangement and/or size thereof. The domains of the transparent film are arranged in a lattice shape or a zigzag shape. The smallest diameter of the domains of the transparent film is about 1-300 um. The Re and Rth of the domains of the transparent film at the visible light wavelength, lambda um, are within a range of ±20% of an average value of the Re and the Rth at the same wavelength of the transparent film. |
