<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a fixing device which includes a pair of rotors, in which jamming of a sheet caused in the fixing device is immediately detected and can be coped with quickly. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the fixing device 36 having a pair of opposite rotors 90 and 92; a conveyance path 32 which conveys a sheet to an area between the rotors 90 and 92 of the fixing device 36; and a sheet detector 106 for detecting the sheet S, which is disposed on the conveyance path 32 and downstream of the fixing device 36 so as to face the fixing device 36. The sheet detector 106 includes an actuator 108 and a detection part 110.
