DISPLAY APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

A display device and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent the brightness of a light source unit from being changed according to the temperature of the display device, thereby stably adjusting the brightness of a backlight unit. A display unit(110) outputs an image by RGB signals and horizontal/vertical synchronization signals. A light source unit(120) applies light from a rear surface of the display unit toward a panel such that the entire screen has uniform brightness. A power supply unit(130) applies a driving voltage to the light source unit by a control signal of a controller(150). A temperature sensor(140) senses a temperature of a display device by detecting a temperature of the light source unit and a surrounding temperature of the light source unit. If the temperature of the display device is out of a reference range, the controller controls the level of a driving power supplied to the light source unit so that the light source unit has reference brightness. The controller controls the level of the driving power correspondingly to the temperature of the display device.
