An information storage medium, a recording/reproducing apparatus, and a recording/reproducing method are provided to effectively protect extra contents and an extra function by using a key for encrypting contents. An information storage medium comprises a key for encrypting contents by a device for recording the contents on a medium, and contents encrypted by the key. The key includes a user key generated by a recording medium to encrypt the contents, a key pre-recorded on the medium when the information storage medium is manufactured, and a key obtained from the combination of the user key and the pre-recorded key.
