A method for enchancing absorption of a light sensitive drug in a selected tissue site provides a delivery apparatus. The delivery apparatus introduces a light sensitive drug and includes an ultrasound apparatus with an ultrasound emitter coupled to an ultrasound source. The light sensitive drug is introduced into a patient's body. Ultrasound energy is produced. Ultrasound energy is directed to the light sensitive drug following absorption of the light sensitive drug at the selected tissue site to activate the light sensitive drug.
