A portable boring machine is provided to perform boring work by allowing a fixing block to be in close contact with the surface of a circular workpiece and fixing both ends of a chain to the fixing block. A portable boring machine comprises a power unit(30) and a fixed input shaft(40). The power unit includes a first pulley(32) coupled with a motor shaft rotating as an electric motor(31) rotates, and a first helical gear formed on a pulley shaft protruding inward from a second pulley(33) coupled with the first pulley. The fixed input shaft includes a spline(41) at the outer peripheral surface thereof and passes through a second helical gear fixed to one end of the spline to engage with the first helical gear. A gear unit(50) includes a second spur gear engaging with the first spur gear and a third spur gear engaging with the second spur gear. An output shaft(60) includes a fourth engaging with the third spur gear and a boring bar housing(62) having a boring bar threrein.
