FIELD: machine building. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and is used for marking holes on cylindrical surfaces. The proposed method comprises making the mark of the first marking point and applying a marking line thereon. The starting ends of equal-length tapes are jointed together and placed on the first marking point, one tape being wound up on cylindrical surface clockwise, the other one being wound up counterclockwise. The centers of both tapes are mechanically jointed on the side of cylindrical surface opposite to that whereon the first marking point is applied, and, going on wrapping the cylindrical surface with the tapes, their ends are brought out on the side of cylindrical surface whereon the first marking point is applied and jointed together. The ends thus jointed, are shifted lengthwise along cylindrical surface for maximum possible distance from the first marking point to make the second marking point. A straight marking line is run through the first and second marking lines. The point on the cylindrical surface opposite side whereon jointed centers are located, is considered to be the center of the first hole. Intercept between the first and second marks of the marking line is divided into two parts and the intercept center is marked as third marking line.
