An antistatic agent comprised of any of the compounds of the general formula: [1] wherein each of R<SUP>1</SUP> to R<SUP>8</SUP> independently is a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted alkenyl, an optionally substituted alkynyl, an optionally substituted aryl, or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group, provided that mutually neighboring R<SUP>5</SUP> to R<SUP>8</SUP> may be linked with each other to thereby form a ring.
