The present invention relates to a method for converting an SMS MO (short message service mobile oriented) message into an emoticon SMS or an MMS message. More particularly, a method for converting an SMS MO message into an emoticon SMS or an MMS message, comprising: enabling a transmission terminal (10) to transmit an SMS MO message (s100); enabling an SMS conversion server (30) to receive the SMS MO message (s200); enabling the SMS conversion server (30) to derive keyword lists corresponding to the received SMS MO message (s300); enabling the SMS conversion server (30) to select a keyword according to priority order of the derived keyword lists (s400); enabling the SMS conversion server (30) to select contents related to the selected keyword (s500); enabling the SMS conversion server (30) to convert the SMS MO message into an emoticon SMS or an MMS message according to a characteristic of a reception terminal (20) and a user's intention of transmitting the SMS MO message using the selected contents (s600); and enabling the SMS conversion server (30) to transmit the converted emoticon SMS or the MMS message to the reception terminal (20) (s700).
