<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receiver and a balance adjusting method by which the performance of a receiver is improved by improving the deterioration of reception sensitivity caused by unbalancing due to characteristic variation, etc., in a balanced receiver. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receiver is provided with the balanced receiver 2 which includes first and second light receiving elements (201, 202) for receiving optical signals from first and second output ports of a one-bit delay interferometer (1). The optical receiver is further provided with: monitor means (701, 702, 801, 802) for monitoring amplitudes and delay of the first and second light receiving elements (201, 202); and means (502, 503, 504, 602, 603, 604) for variably controlling attenuation amounts and delay amounts of optical signals in paths between the first and second output ports of the 1-bit delay interferometer (1) and the first and second light receiving elements (201, 202). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
