<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably detect the temperature of a laser diode for an optical disk device by a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: In the package of the laser diode, provided are a photodiode 26 for detecting the amount of light emitted from the laser diode 25, a current supply means 32 supplying a forward current to the photodiode 26, a voltage drop detection means 12 detecting forward voltage drop when the forward current flows through the photodiode 26, and a temperature calculation means 12 calculating the temperature of the laser diode 25 on the basis of a conversion coefficient indicating a relation between the forward voltage drop and a temperature when the forward current flows through the photodiode 26 and the detected forward drop voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
