PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device loading a remote console login function and a remote console login method by which remote login by serial communication to a network device at a remote place is easily and inexpensively performed. SOLUTION: In a transmitting side network device, serial communication data are converted into a frame with an identifier exclusive for communication between serial and the Ethernet (R), the frame with the identifier is transmitted by frame multiplexing it and in a receiving side network device, the frame with the identifier included in the Ethernet (R) frame is restored to the original serial communication data.
