PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information transfer master and a magnetic transfer method which allow information to be surely transferred to a slave medium by giving excellent adhesion between the information transfer master and the slave medium. SOLUTION: The information transfer master is used when the servo information is transferred to a magnetic recording medium having a lubricant layer on a surface thereof from the information transfer master, which has servo information recorded therein, wherein surface free energy of a surface layer of the information transfer master, which faces the magnetic recording medium when magnetically transferring the servo information, is≤45 mN/m.
