PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic stopping/starting system suppressing the occurrence of vibration during cranking when automatically starting an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The automatic stopping/starting system comprises an intake side variable valve train for changing a valve timing for an intake valve of the internal combustion engine. During cranking when automatically starting the internal combustion engine, the intake side variable valve train controls the valve timing for the intake valve so that the intake valve is in a closed condition when a piton is at a top dead center and the intake valve is in an opened condition in other cases.
