A recording medium, a method for forming control information, and a recording/reproducing method, and an apparatus thereof are provided to easily judge whether a security system exists in a recording medium or not by installing a security system flag on the recording medium. A recording medium comprises a management area having a medium data area where medium data of a corresponding recording medium is recorded and a security system area. The medium data includes data for a physical structure of the corresponding recording medium and a security system flag. The security system flag indicates whether the security system is placed on the recording medium or not.
