<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and thin biometrics device. <P>SOLUTION: The biometrics device includes LED light sources 4 for emitting light on the finger 2, an imaging optical system 5 having a lens array 7 made by arranging two or more imaging lenses 7a in an almost planar fashion for imaging the blood vessel 3 within the finger 2 on an imaging face 6b and shielding walls 10 arranged between the imaging lenses 7a so as to prevent light cross talk between the adjacent imaging lenses 7a of the lens array 7, a read section 1 having an imaging element 6 composed of a pixel array of pixels 6a for imaging the image of the blood vessel 3 acquired by the plurality of imaging lenses 7a, a personal information extracting means I for extracting a blood vessel pattern of the blood vessel 3 from the acquired image, and an authentication operating section B7 for carrying out personal identification by comparing preregistered blood vessel patterns and a newly acquired blood vessel pattern.
