OPTICAL FILTER AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF, OPTICAL FILTER FOR DISPLAY AND DISPLAY PROVIDED WITH SAME, AND PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical filter excellent in both of antidazzle characteristic and transparency.

SOLUTION: The optical filter includes: a transparent substrate; an electromagnetic wave shielding layer of mesh type disposed on the transparent substrate surface; and a hard coat layer formed on the surface of the electromagnetic wave shielding layer, wherein the hard coat layer consists of protrusion regions corresponding to mesh parts of the electromagnetic wave shielding layer of mesh type and recessed regions corresponding to inter-mesh parts, a difference between the height from the transparent substrate surface to the surface at the center of the recessed region and the height from the transparent substrate surface to the surface of the protrusion region adjoining the recessed region is over 0.1 μm, and a distribution of the height from the transparent substrate surface to the surface of the recessed region falls into the range of ±0.1 μm of the height from the transparent substrate surface to the surface at the center of the recessed region.
