<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mounting apparatus which can carry out situation check quickly when failures about the existence of an electronic component or the absorption state of the electronic component occur. <P>SOLUTION: The surface mounting device 10 can display in a display unit 90 simultaneously the image taken by a component recognition camera 12, a side view camera 13, and a substrate recognition camera 14 together with error messages, if judged to be abnormal as the result of inspection of the existence of an electronic component P absorbed by a suction nozzle 52 or the absorption state of the electronic component P by an inspection device 120.
