PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal transmitter capable of preventing device break when a voltage exceeding the normal service voltage is applied in a mutual signal transmission between electrically-insulated electric circuits. SOLUTION: The signal transmitter 1 is equipped with an insulation signal transmitter 4 for transferring signals from a primary side to a secondary side which are separated and insulated from each other to either of first electrode 2 and second electrode 3 which are separated and insulated from each other. The primary side of the insulation signal transmitter 4 is connected to the first electrode 2 and the secondary side of the insulation signal transmitter 4 is connected to the second electrode 3. To prevent break of the insulation signal transmitter 4, the distance L1 between the first and second electrodes 2 and 3 is determined to start discharging at a voltage which is higher than the normal impressed voltage but lower than the withstand voltage of the insulation signal transmitter 4.
