PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning agent which is excellent in image sticking characteristics irrespective of kinds of electrodes constituting a liquid crystal display element, and to provide a liquid crystal alignment layer obtained from the liquid crystal aligning agent, and the liquid crystal display element equipped with the liquid crystal alignment layer. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent includes: 100 weight part of a polymer having an imide bond unit and an amic acid bond unit; and at least 5 weight part of a compound including an intramolecular epoxy group and represented by formula (I-3), (here, R is a divalent organic group). The ratio of the number of the amic acid bond unit to the total sum of the number of the imide bond units and the amic acid bond units is 60-95%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
