PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heating body used for an image heating device, and capable of reducing an excessive temperature rise in an area where a recording material does not pass through. SOLUTION: The image heating device is configured to include a flexible member 11, the heating body 1 for heating the flexible member, and a backup member 13 that forms a nip part between the heating body and the flexible member, and to heat the recording material P carrying the toner image T at the nip part while holding and conveying the recording material P. The heating body 1 is used for the image heating device, and the heating body 1 includes a heat generating body 4 and a heat-conductive anisotropic layer 5 containing filler having heat-conductive anisotropy via an insulating layer 3 in a direction orthogonal to the recording material conveying direction.
