PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a grip roller constituting a second conveying means and a conveying belt of a belt conveying means are brought into contact with and pressed against each other to form a nip part, and rubbed each other by their friction resistance and may abraded due to secular changes; the pressing direction at the nip position of the grip roller and the belt conveying means is changed, and the moving direction and the conveying direction of a front edge of a paper sheet after passing through the nip position are changed. SOLUTION: In the sheet conveying device, a positioning adjustment means constituted of a first positioning adjustment means 1201 and a second positioning adjustment means 1200 has a straight motion conversion mechanism of a relatively simple constitution in which the positions of a pulley shaft 83a and a pulley shaft 84a are movable in the directions orthogonal to each other while the distance between these shafts is kept to be a predetermined value.
