Cut lines (61) are formed in a wicking member (60) for feeding a fuel to the anode (32) of a single cell (11). As a result, not only the fuel propagation in the wicking member (60) but also the capillary action through the cut lines of the wicking member (60) can be utilized to feed the fuel in sufficient quantity to the anode. This is because it is possible to make effective use of not only the fuel propagation through continuous pores in the wicking member (60) but also the fuel propagation through the cut lines (61). Therefore, the fuel even in smaller quantity and lower concentration can be fed for a longer time period, thereby to generate the electric power for a long time period.
