The present invention relates to novel chemical compounds, methods for th eir discovery, and their therapeutic use. In particular, the present inventi on provides benzodiazepine compounds, and structurally and functionally rela ted compounds, and methods of using such compounds as therapeutic agents to treat a number of conditions associated with the faulty regulation of the pr ocesses of programmed cell death, autoimmunity, inflammation, hyperprolifera tion, vascular abnormalities, and the like.
