HYDROGEN SEPARATION MEMBRANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen separation membrane having high adhesive strength of the interface between the metal porous substrate and the hydrogen permselective membrane composed of palladium or a palladium alloy.

SOLUTION: The hydrogen separation membrane has a metal porous substrate, a hydrogen permselective membrane formed on the metal porous substrate and composed of Pd or a Pd alloy, and an intermediate layer formed between the metal porous substrate and the hydrogen permselective membrane, and the intermediate layer contains at least one of the main metal elements constituting the metal porous substrate and Pd. The content of Pd in the intermediate layer is preferably 30-80 at.% (atomic percentage).
